I'd have to see the video to make an opinion. :?

I hope if it is true, that a lesson is learned for all.

I agree, one thing i noticed is that the child was wearing his hat all jacked up in the front and looked like he had an attitude. If i knew my son would be on tv i would have at least made him dress half decent.

I have to say, in the video, the boy looks like a thug. I will also agree that he has an attitude. I have seen his mother, many, many times or ones just like her. You probably have too. She might want to rethink placing him in an alternative school environment or possibly boot camp. It may save her a few trips to jail, to bail him out in the future.

I noticed that too.  I do not think the school would do this if video was available to back them up.  What would be the point.  If they were covering for someone, why do anything at all?  If he was in trouble, why bring up the video as evidence if it wasnt true evidence.  I imagine the child didnt know it was on tape or the mother.  Its not like recorders are everywhere.  If he acted like that when he was supposed to be "showing his innocence" what did he act like during the alleged incident.  I want to see the video!

I agree about the hat -when I saw this on the news- that was my first thought- I have 2 boys and they are not allowed to wear hats like that, my oldest one tried to wear his like that one time-it was the only time- it's  disrespectful.  I have a nephew that wears his hat like that- I hate to say it-I love him but he's nothing but trouble. The mother should know better-she's encouraging him to be bad by allowing that gangsta hat-she should know that it represents bad attitudes.  I would like to see the video too-then we could give a better opinion re the situation but I have to agree-it doesn't look good for that boy's family with the way he's dressed-hat cocked up and shirt way too big- bet his britches hang down below his b&** too.

I don't know this kid but I certainly don't think he looks "gangsta" just because he has his hat tipped up.  In our house, we say that they have a crooked head...lol  when they wear it like that.  Hats are not allowed to be worn like that in our house either, even when it's just a friend of our child's.  He looks like a normal hormonal kid that is starting to think he knows it all.  She is a normal mother trying to protect her child as any of us would do.  Kids at that age can be a major pain but the adult teacher should be able to handle those types of situations without losing control.  I have been appalled at some of the things I have seen in our schools.  I think that most teachers are wonderful but I've heard teachers tell 3rd graders to "SHUT UP!!" and seen 3 teachers surrounding an 8 year old intimidating (that's bullying in my eyes) him.  I'm continually amazed at the flippant remarks made to children by adults in the school system.  I can't EVER recall having a teacher that acted the way I see some act today.

Please understand that I am talking about a few as opposed to the many wonderful teachers that we do have.

Pick a school and go observe a class for a few hours in the afternoon....if your children are young, go to a primary school AND a high school so you can see what to model your children away from.  It is eye opening when you sit in a class all day and see what these kids do and say and what the teachers say to them.

Southern Rain-I understand your opinion-but that's my opinion re "gangsta" look-see that is why it's important to dress for success.  I understand kids want to look different and there's peer pressure-but it goes to show you how we all think differently of an individual based on how they are dressed-it's just a fact of life.  He may not be gangsta-but it's what gangsters wear-you know??  I totally agree with you re teachers- I've known of one teacher that provoked my oldest son but I couldn't prove it as there was no video, however we had witnesses(other students) but it didn't matter- the principal believed the teacher. I don't agree with teachers bullying as that is disrespecting kids & setting bad examples-unfortunately there are some in today's school system waiting on that paycheck and retirement- it is sad. Thank goodness there's more good teachers than bad ones.

I've always tried to teach my kids to Respect all adults and to treat others as they would expect to be treated..... That being said, I have always expected the same from the teacher towards my children. My kids have had many wonderful teachers however, their have been a couple of Teachers and or Administrator's, which I wont say any names... that seem to think its ok to mentally abuse children. For example, a child raises his or her hand to ask a question about Math  and instead of the teacher trying to help the student the teacher proceeds (in front of the class) to put the child down and tell them not to even embarrass their-self by asking a question. How does this help a child?......

On the other hand, I agree we do not need troubled children in our schools who pose a threat to the teachers and or the other students.  So I do agree if the child got out of control with the teacher that appropriate action should be taken however, if the teacher did wrong then the school should handle that also.

I just wish we could see the tape!

Well.. I must agree on the hat issue. I think the kid should have not wore his hat in that manner especially being on tv. But wearing your hat that way don't mean you are a thug. I would like to see the video as well.  If the teacher was in the wrong then i don't blame the mother for taking the actions she did. I would really hope the teacher didn't act in such a way as the mother said.  I know teachers have it rough with some students but at the same time they should handle it in an appropriate manner. The thing about Pepperell schools is i have noticed they always seem to take up for their teachers even if they are in the wrong. I had an incident with my child who attends the high school. It was bacically what my son said happen and what the teacher said happen. I clearly believed my son but still he was punshied. I told the principal how the schools always take the side of the teachers no matter what. His reply..... We will "always"  take the teachers side because they are professionals and they wouldn't lie to us. My thought? ....Just because they are professionals don't mean they are perfect!  The only perfect person is Jesus Christ! And that lets me know there if a student came to the office saying such and such teacher touched me then would the reply be "  Oh he/ she wouldn't have touched you because they are a professional.  Makes you wonder...........

lumbee1-you are right-they will always take up for the teachers-It burns me up because-they never give students the benefit of the doubt and it is a sad situation because if a child speaks up- then they should be heard for speaking up not reprimanded.  Off topic here- I know of one teacher that was caught doing her laundry at the school instead of her home- they chose not to terminate her because she was about to retire in a few years.   I don't understand it....heck-I didn't even know they had washing machines & dryers at the schools-but they do.

That principal must not watch the news very often.

Wasn't it Pepperell several yrs. ago that had a teacher arrested and all over the news for providing drinks and having sex with a minor from the school? Ok, she was professional. NOT!:?
