I was appalled at how few businesses actually participated in the trick or treat on Broad this year! There were hundreds of children dressed up and walking Broad for the annual event but only a handful of merchants actually participated!

There were whole blocks that only had one or two businesses handing out candy to the kids. Two block did not have any! The result of this was extremely long lines at the locations that were participating... some 30 to 40 kids deep, waiting for a piece of candy!

Why go to the trouble of advertising it if no one cares enough to actually do it? Why get little children all dressed up and make them walk up one side of Broad and down another for a handful of candy and a bag full of disappointment?

If merchants do not want trick or treaters on Broad Street and do not want to participate...  They should do us all a favor and cancel it next year!!!

Sounds like I'm glad that we passed this year. I have one child who is 7 and another who is 2, and we have never missed a Saturday Trick-or-Treat. Last year they tried to do away with it and hold it on Halloween, but some merchants still held the Saturday thing. Same thing this year I've noticed. There will be Trick-or-treating from 2-6 Wednesday, which is only convenient for stay-at-home moms! Oh, well, I suppose that those who choose not to participate don't want the business of this working mom!
